The Bands

Made From Durable Foundations

We use Tungsten metals in all of our bands, a standout material in jewelry design known for its remarkable strength and resilience. With a hardness rating of 9 on the Mohs scale—second only to diamond—it resists scratches, dents, and wear far better than most metals.

At Mondeu, we domestically source 3 types of tungsten-based metal blends: Copper, Silver, and Carbon Tungsten. This allows us to inherit the beauty of those metals, which also inheriting the strength and durability that tungsten provides our rings, protecting the wood inlay over time.

  • Copper Tungsten: This variation features a warm, gold-like tone. Compared to gold, which can scratch and lose its shape, copper-tungsten carbide offers the same rich color with significantly greater durability.

  • Silver Tungsten: With a bright, platinum-like finish, this option delivers a sophisticated shine. Unlike platinum, which scratches easily, silver-tungsten carbide stays smooth and polished over time.

  • Carbon Tungsten: This variation has a bold, gunmetal black appearance, offering a modern twist. It has no direct equivalent among traditional metals, providing a fresh, contemporary option for those seeking something different.

Our Metals Compared to Popular Choices

Precious metals like gold and platinum have long been staples in jewelry, but they come with drawbacks. Gold, for instance, is soft and prone to scratching or bending, especially under daily wear. Platinum, though more durable than gold, still develops scratches and a worn patina over time. These limitations inspired us to turn to tungsten carbide, which offers superior durability without sacrificing style. By pairing it with wine barrel inlays, we create rings that balance elegance and toughness.

  • Copper Tungsten vs. Gold: Gold’s iconic color comes at a cost—it’s soft and requires regular care to maintain its look. Copper tungsten mirrors gold’s warmth but resists wear, making it a practical alternative.

  • Silver Tungsten vs. Platinum: Platinum’s elegant sheen is appealing, but its softness leads to visible wear. Silver tungsten replicates platinum’s aesthetic while offering greater hardness and scratch resistance.

  • Carbon Tungsten: This black finish is unique to tungsten carbide, setting it apart from gold, platinum, or silver. It’s a striking choice for those who want a ring that breaks from tradition.
